Semi Truck Driver Arrested for DUID Following Crash
Two semi trucks crashed early Friday morning on I-39/90 and one of those drivers was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs. An SUV was also involved in the incident.

The crash reportedly occurred just after midnight on Friday. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol reportedly responded to the crash on I-39/90 just south of the Beltline. Various media reports say traffic was halted in the area because of road construction near County Highway N.
“According to the State Patrol, 29-year-old Andrew Cox from Onalaska was driving a semi-truck southbound in the left lane when he swerved to the right to avoid a collision with other traffic,” an article published on the WKOW website reads. “Authorities say he then jackknifed and hit the left rear corner of a semi-trailer in the right lane being driven by Awale Sahal, 43, of Eden Prairie, Minn. Cox also hit the rear-end of an SUV driven by Kyle Venden, 30, of Edgerton. Authorities say Venden was stopped/slowing down in the left lane next to Sahal’s semi unit.”
Media reports say there were injuries reported as a result of the crash, but they were minor. There’s no indication in the article that anyone involved was transported to the hospital as a result of injuries they sustained in the crash.
“The crash caused Cox’s semi-trailer to break open and spill its load of Arizona Ice Tea onto the interstate according to the State Patrol. Authorities say all three drivers involved were wearing their seatbelts,” the WKOW article reads. “Authorities say Cox was arrested and cited for operating while under the influence of a controlled substance and inattentive driving, while Venden was cited for operating while suspended.”
Lanes of the interstate were blocked for nearly seven hours after the crash.
