One woman is dead and two others were seriously injured following a head-on collision last Friday morning in Outagamie County.

Various media reports say that the woman who was killed was a 46-year-old Freedom, Wisconsin resident. Her name was not released to the media as of Wednesday afternoon.

The head-on crash occurred early last Friday morning at Freedom Road just south of Greiner Road.

“The crash happened at about 3:30 a.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound on Freedom Road struck an SUV headed southbound, according to a statement released by the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department,” an article by the Post-Crescent News reads. “The woman driving the SUV died at the scene, said Lt. Terry Hammen.”

Two people were reportedly in the northbound vehicle, a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, both from De Pere. Both received injuries as a result of the head-on crash.

“The woman was flown to ThedaCare Medical Center-Neenah by ThedaStar and is in critical condition, said JP Heim, ThedaCare spokesman,” the article reads. “The man was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, but USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin was not able to immediately verify his condition.”

Freedom Road was closed for nearly nine hours at Lau Road while official investigated the head-on collision. Freedom Road is also known as Outagamie County Road N.

There was no indication in the article that anyone was facing charges in connection to the crash.

The Town of Freedom Fire Department, the Town of Freedom First Responders and the Town of Vandebroek Fire Department assisted at the scene.
