A head-on crash in Kenosha County claimed the life of one person and injured another last Sunday, Feb. 5. According to various media reports, the incident occurred near the intersection of Antioch Road and Highway C around 6:45 p.m. in the Town of Salem.

“When crews arrived on scene, it was determined that a northbound Hyundai Accent and a southbound Chevrolet Cavalier collided head-on at that location,” an article on the FOX 6 Now website reads. “The operator of the Hyundai, a 20-year-old woman from Trevor, Wisconsin, was transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”

A 30-year-old Bristol woman who was driving the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene.

There’s no information in regards to the cause of the crash or if anyone is facing charges in connection to the deadly collision. The article however does mention that when officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department were investigating the scene about 8:15 p.m., several deputies were in charge of controlling the traffic. At one point, a vehicle attempted to pass a traffic control point that was marked with road flares and a flashing patrol vehicle. In doing so, the driver of that vehicle ran over a deputy’s foot. This incident took place at County Highway JF and Antioch.

The operator of that vehicle, a 65-year-old man from Illinois, was arrested on multiple charges and the deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

During the investigation the road was closed from about five hours.

The investigation in this collision is ongoing and the names of the people who were involved had not been released as of Monday afternoon.
