An elderly couple was killed when their car was hit by a logging truck in the Town of Grant, Wisconsin last week. According to various media reports, the couple who were hit were from Marion. The incident happened last Monday about 4 p.m. in an intersection of County Highway G, according to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department.

“The crash that killed Ireneo Gonzalez, 77, and Soila Gonzalez, 76, happened about 4 p.m. Monday in the Town of Grant,” an article published on the WAOW website reads. “The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old Bowler man, was not hurt. The victims were traveling westbound on Leopolis Road at the time of the crash.”

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office said an initial investigation into the crash showed that the vehicle the elderly couple were driving in was headed westbound on Leopolis Road and when it was in the intersection of County Trunk G, a log truck that was traveling northbound on County Trunk G collided with it.

“The 77-year-old man driving the westbound vehicle and his 76-year-old female passenger both died from injuries suffered during the crash,” the article reads. “The 57-year-old northbound driver from Bowler was not hurt.”

The crash is currently under investigation. No additional information is being released at this time.
