One person is dead and two others were injured following a two-vehicle crash in Oulu last week. According to an article posted on the Superior Telegram website, the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office released the names of the three people involved in the fatal collision on Monday morning.

“The deceased has been identified as Marcus Anthony Tuura, 36, of Iron River. He is believed to have been the driver of one vehicle, according to Chief Deputy Dan Clark with the sheriff’s office,” the article reads. “His passenger was Renee Ann Ranta, 38, of Iron River. She was listed in fair condition at Essentia Health Tuesday, according to media relations specialist Maureen Talarico. The driver of the second vehicle was Zeke Nieder, 20, of Oulu. He has since been released from the hospital.”

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. according to a media release sent out by Chief Deputy Dan Clark with the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office. A 911 call reportedly came into the Bayfield County Communication Center about 2:09 a.m.

The caller informed the dispatcher that a crash had occurred near the intersection of county roads B and FF. About the same time as the first call was made, another person who called 911 reached the Douglas County Communication Center. That call came in from Maple and the person requested an ambulance for two people who were involved in the same crash.

When emergency responders arrived at the crash scene, they found Tuura, who was already dead. The two people in Maple were transported to Essentia Health in Duluth for injuries they sustained in the crash.

Responding officers told the media that there was no cell phone coverage available in the area where the crash occurred.

The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol are currently investigating the fatal crash. No other information about the incident, including whether or not someone is facing charges in connection to the crash, has been released to the public.
