Waukesha motorcyclist killed in crash
A 25-year-old man was killed Nov. 4 when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a vehicle in Waukesha. That man was identified by authorities recently as Kyle T. Hahn, of Waukesha, 25 years of age.
According to an article posted on the Waukesha Patch website, the crash occurred that Friday evening about 6:40 p.m.
“The City of Waukesha Police and Fire Communications Center received numerous 911 calls for a traffic crash with injuries at the intersection of Macarthur Rd and Comanche Ln., the article reads. “When the Waukesha Police and Fire Departments arrived on scene, they located a car rolled over on its hood and a motorcycle and rider down in the roadway.”
When the Waukesha Fire Department arrived on scene authorities rendered aid to the operator of the motorcycle, Hahn, who was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
He reportedly died a short time later as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash. The operator of the car reportedly was not injured in the incident.
A Waukesha Police Accident Reconstruction Specialist has been called in to investigate the crash scene and that investigation is still ongoing.
The article does not mention if charges are expected against the driver of the vehicle. It also doesn’t mention if authorities believe speed or alcohol were potentially thought to be a factor in the crash.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, there were 92 fatalities in 2013 due to motorcycle crashes and 1,765 injuries – the latest data available on the website. In 2012, 2,398 motorcyclists were injured on Wisconsin roads. That represents a 14.2% increase from the 2,100 injured in 2011 and a 17.0% increase from 2002. An additional 136 non-motorcyclists were injured in crashes involving motorcycles in 2012.
The article does not mention whether or not Hahn was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash.
